Wireless Data (SCPaaS) FAQ

Technical FAQ for Apeiron SIM Card Platform as a Service (SCPaaS), covering IoT and internet access deployments.

Platform Scope

What is Apeiron SCPaaS?

SCPaaS is a unified SIM lifecycle platform used to order, activate, monitor, optimize, and decommission data SIMs for wholesale and enterprise programs.

Which network types does this support?

The platform is used for both:

  • IoT / M2M deployments (low to moderate data profiles)
  • Internet access deployments (high-throughput primary or failover connectivity)

Which carriers are available?

Apeiron supports AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile options, plus multi-carrier eSIM and cross-carrier pooling models based on program design.

SIM Lifecycle and Plans

How are SIMs managed operationally?

SIMs are managed in the dashboard or via API for:

  • Provisioning and activation
  • Plan assignment and changes
  • Usage monitoring
  • Status changes (including suspension workflows)

Are multiple rate plan tiers supported?

Yes. Plans span low-usage IoT tiers through higher-usage internet options, including carrier-specific high-usage and unlimited offerings where available.

Can plans be changed during a billing cycle?

Yes. The platform supports in-cycle plan adjustment workflows that help wholesale partners optimize outcomes based on actual usage behavior.

Pooling and Cost Management

How does pooling work?

Standard pooling applies when SIMs share the same carrier and same plan tier. Overage exposure is evaluated against pooled usage totals for that group.

Do different carriers pool together automatically?

Not in standard pooling models. Cross-carrier pooling is available as a dedicated product option with its own pricing structure.

Is managed optimization available?

Yes. Apeiron can provide managed optimization services for larger fleets where manual monthly review is operationally heavy.

Notifications and Automation

What is the Notifications Framework?

It provides threshold and event alerts (email, SMS, webhook) for usage milestones, overage conditions, and action outcomes.

What is the Action Framework?

It is a policy automation engine that can execute network-level actions based on triggers such as usage thresholds or billing-cycle events.

Which automated actions are common?

Common policies include:

  • Auto-suspend or disconnect at hard limits
  • Auto-throttle when a threshold is exceeded
  • Automatic plan change rules for dynamic optimization
  • Billing-cycle reset behavior after policy actions

Network and Security Options

Are static IP and private network options supported?

Yes. Static IP and private APN/network connection options are available for supported carrier pathways based on deployment requirements.

Why use private APN/network connectivity?

Private connectivity can improve security posture, help compliance requirements, and keep traffic off the public internet for sensitive workloads.

Equipment and Operations

Does Apeiron support router management?

Yes. The platform can include router lifecycle workflows with remote provisioning, firmware management, and fleet monitoring.

Can this integrate with SD-WAN and broadband?

Yes. SCPaaS can be deployed with Apeiron broadband access and SD-WAN services to support resilient primary/backup and dual-active topologies.

API and Documentation

Where can we find API collections?

Use the full library here: Postman API Collections

Where can we find wireless data pricing docs?

Wireless data pricing references are available in the Wireless Data section of Docs & Tools.
